The story behind that picture
It was an icy, cold Sunday in February 2023. Nobody to be seen on the streets of Vienna at 8 a.m. My plan was just to organize a coffee, but as I passed the park of the Vienna Hofburg it was these old lanterns that caught my attention. It was a strange interplay of light, shadow, rain, clouds and apart from a few walkers (with dogs) there was no one to be seen there either. Having ready my panoramic camera took me some time, the cold is not an advantage for these old machines. I rarely take portrait format photos with my old Noblex 135, but it worked quite well here. The Melange was delicious and that day my journey continued, by train to Moravia.
